PROGRAM ( 1 )

Day 1 YANGON

Upon arrival at YANGON airport , you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

Late afternoon extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. Enjoy the sunset from the compound of Pagoda.

Lunch is to your own account.

Dinner at hotel and overnight stay hotel in Yangon.

Day 2 YANGON

After breakfast, drivedown to CENTRAL POST OFFICE from where you will start your walking tour. Walk along to STRAND HOTEL and have a look at PANSODAN JETTY to observe the busy life on Yangon River. Continue driving up PANSODAN STREET famous for some of Yangon’s most impressive colonial buildings. Start your walking tour at MAHABANDOOLA ROAD from where you have the perfect view on SULE PADOGA, CITY HALL and HIGH COURT. Cross through the greens of  MAHA BANDOOLA GARDEN before discovering the gold shops of WHWE BONTHA STREET. Go further on to KON ZAY DAN STREET and SHWEDAGON PAGODA ROAD before crossing through the animated INDIAN DISTRICT of ANAWRAHTA ROAD to reach the HINDU TEMPLE, Continue to 31st STREET well known for second hand book shops as well as typical historical shop houses and to the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores.

Total walking time approximately : 2 h.

After lunch (to your own account), board the circular ‘commuter’ train at Scotts Market station and train journey for about 20 minutes (please take note that the trains are very basic, often crowded and not reliable). You will get off at HANDHAWADDY STATION and will have the feeling to have arrived in a village, even though you are in the middle of town. Walk through a typical Myanmar neighborhood where today’s more modern lifestyle mixes with ancient traditions. An old timer bus (without air-con) will be waiting to transfer you to Kandawgyi Botanical Garden where you could buy some local species of Orchids and your knowledge on Orchids will be broaden by the responsible person of the garden.

Continue your journey to the busy  area of Chinatown where shops close down and the NIGHT MARKET  selling all kinds of goods sets up. Return to hotel.

Early dinner at local restaurant in China Town and overnight stay at Hotel in Yangon.

Day  3   –   YANGON – HEHO – INLE LAKE BIKING

After breakfast you are transferred to the airport for domestic flight to HEHO.Upon arrival,proceed by road to NYAUNG SHWE (32 km – 1 hour).

Your biking tour will start from NYAUNG SHWE to Khaung Daing willage (10 km – one and half  hour) and on the road along the shore of the lake. The road would be partly tarred winding road with pot holes in many places, partly narrow path ways. Light traffic.

Observe the unique life of the Intha people’s life on the shore of Inle lake and admire the scenery. As soo as you arrive in Khaung Daing, transfer to hotel by boat. Both lunch and dinner will be to your own account.

 Day  4   –   INLE LAKE

Excursion by bat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floation gardens. Local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Visit are made to PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and to one of the local markets in the Inle Lake region ( on the market days only). Lunch and dinner to own account. Overnight stay at Hotel (***,Deluxe room ) on the shore of Inle Lake.

Day  5   –   INLE LAKE – HEHO – MANDALAY After breakfast,board your boat to the Western shore of the lake where you will find the beginning of a stair path leading to the hidden and unknown Inn Thein pagoda complex. Visit one of the most amazing historical sights on the shore of the lake consisting of hundreds of small stupas overgrown by moss and greens. Continue on foot to a village nearby where several crops are grown in traditional ways. Walk in an easy pace along one of the many creeks passing through rice fields to the village of Sae Ma. Visit the primary school of the village and possibility to meet the children and teachers to observe their way of learning and teaching. (Note: on School days only). Later step in a wooden canoe for an exciting ride down a narrow creek until you reach the Paung Daw Oo Pagoda. Walk across to the weaving village of THA LAY where a traditional home cooked Shan lunch will be served in a local Inn Thar house. Enjoy eating as the locals do, on the floor and from low tables. Transfer by boat to Nyaung Shwe. Continue by car to HEHO ( 25km – 1 hour) and domestic flight  to MANDALAY. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. Lunch and dinner to own account. Overnight stay at Sedona Hotel (****,ROH room) in Mandalay.

Day  6  –  MANDALAY – AVA – MANDALAY After breakfast, experience the sights and sounds of Mandalay including one of the most revered religious monuments in Myanmar, the MAHAMUNI PAGODA; the SHWE INBIN MONASTERY; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, a superb example of a tradintional wooden building and KUTHODAW PAGODA the world’s largest book made of marble. Visit a traditional wooden building and KUTHODAW PAGODA the world’s largest book made of marble.In the afternoon, proceed forexcursion to former Royal Capital if INWA (AVA ) reached by a short boat trip. Visits by horse- drawn carriage to NANMYINT WATCH TOWER, the remains of the place building nicknamed “leaning tower of Ava” MAHN AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, built of brick and stucco, BAGAYAR MONASTERY,famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts. a retreat for Buddhist devotees and private visit to a nunnery and a monastery. Proceed to 200-year-old U BEIN teak. Walk through Amarapura village to the TAUNG THA MAN LAKE and cross the famous 200 –year old U BEIN TEAK BRIDGE, built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was Royal capital. Lunch and Dinner to own account. Over night stay at Sedona Hotel in Mandalay.

Day  7   –  MANDALAY – IRRAWADDY PRINCESS II

 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the jetty at 10:00 AT Shwekyetyet Jetty, welcome Deink and briefing. Sail upstream for about one and half hour we arrived at the MINGUN pagoda Complex. Well know short trip to see the unfinished pagoda, the Mingun Bell, weighting 90 tones and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world and the “Home For The Aged”. After lunch on boatd and continued downstream to Sagaing. Visit to Sagaing for about Two & half hours excursion by coach. Visit the most important Buddhist Religion site. Back to the board and sail downstream. Enjoy the sunset over Sagaing Hill.

Day  8   –   IRRAWADDY PRINCESS II

 After breakfast on board, steam downstream to YANDABO. Go for a walk at this delightful village without proper road access thatis a thriving community of pottery makers. The people live a simple life style making a variety of clay products which they barter trade for other commodities. Visit the village monastery that has existed on the same site for over 400 years. Cruise past the Chindwin confluence. In the late afternoon you will dock in THEIN GONE, a typical farming village set on western riverbank 10km South of Pakkoku. Visit the monastery and school. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay on board of IRRAWADDY PRINCESS(***, Main deck cabin)] Note: Itinerary and stops during the cruise are subject to changes depending on river conditions and local circumstances.

Day  9   –   IRRAWADDY PRINCESS II – BAGAN After breakfast on board, set sail for the final leg of your river journey to BAGAN where you will meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, pick up at your hotel by horse cart and venture out to some of the more off-the-beaten track temples and pagodas. We don’t follow the trotted trails but take you over dusty roads and small paths through one thousand years of history. Lunch and dinner to own account. Overnight stay at  Hotel(***, Superior room) in Bagan.

Day 10   –   BAGAN After early breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for domestic flight to BAGAN. Upon arrival, starting your day with visits to the most significant pagodasand temples of Bagan including SHWEZIGON PAGODA, BUILT BY King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; KU BYANUK GYI, a temple with superb murals of Jataka scenes; KHAY MIN GA TEMPLE, noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments and ANANDA TEMPLE, with four standing Buddha images. In the afternoon visit one of Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts, a lacquerware craftsmen’s workshop in nearby MYINKABA village. You will continue to MANUHA TEMPLE, built in the Mon style in 1059 and follow on to NANGBAYA TEMPLE, a unique sandstone monument said to have been the palace of King Manuha. Proceed to BUPAYA PAGODA or MINGALAZEDI STUPA to watch the sunset over the famous Ayeyarwaddy River. Lunch and dinner to own account. Overnight stay at Tharabar Gate Hotel in Bagan.

Day 11 Bagan – THANDWE / NGAPALI BEACH

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for domestic flight  to

THANDWE, the gateway to Ngapali Beach, Upon arrival, transfer to Sandoway Resort (provided by hotel) and rest of the day is free at leisure.

Dinner and overnight stay at Ngapali Beach.

Day 12-13-14  NGAPALI BEACH

After breakfast, enjoy the sea, sun and sand – swimming, snorkeling or leisure strolls along the ocean. Board a boat to explore the offshore islands (available at hotel) or rent a bicycle for a trip to the fishing villages and colorful markets nearby. Watch the breathtaking sunset above the Bay of Bengal.

Day 15THANDWE /NGAPALI BEACH – YANGON

Breakfast at hotel and morning at leisure until return flight  to YANGON. Upon arrival in Yangon, transfer to your hotel.

Day 16 YANGON

After breakfast, complete your Yangon impressions with a visit to the KABA AYE (WORLD PEACE) PAGODA  and the  MAHAPASANA CAVE, where the sixth Buddhist synod took place. Proceed to Yangon’s oldest Chinese temple and at the riverside located BOTATAUNG PAGODA. Last but not least, see the 8 meter high Golden Lion Throne as well as the Mandalay Royal Regalia at the NATIONAL MUSEUM. Optionally make a second visit to Kandawgyi Botanical Garden.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.

In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your international departure flight .

PROGRAM ( 2 )

Day 1   MANDALAY – ROAD TO MANDALAY

Upon arrival at Mandalay airport you will be welcome by guide and transfer to jetty to embark ROAD TO MANDALAY.

Day 2 & 3  ROAD TO MANDALAY                   

Day 4  ROAD TO MANDALAY – BAGAN

After breakfast disembarks and you will meet with your guide and start your day with visiting the most significant pagodas and templesof Bagan: including SHWEZIGON PAGODA, build by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; KU BYANUK GYI, and KHAY MIN GA TEMPLE noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments and ANADA TEMPLE, with four standing Buddha images.

Overnight stat at Bagan.

Day 5  BAGAN

            BALLOONS OVER BAGAN

5h30 – approximately pick up by Ballons over Bagan coach and transfer to hot air balloon launching place (note that this place changes every day depending on the winds).

The sunrise flight will last just under one hour. The balloon is guided by gentle winds allowing guests a serene and peaceful bird’s-eye view of ancient temples drifting by. Using his skil the pilot is able to guide the ballon to a gentle landing on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River, or in an open field, where our friendly crew and a celebratory glass of champagne will be on hand. The pilots reserve the right to split up the participants according to the weight of the clients. The final decision is made by the pilot.

09h00 approximately return to hotel by Ballons over Bagan coach.

After breakfast, visit further temple including the site of TAYOKEPYAY TEMPLE in Min Nan Thu village, PHAYA THONE ZU and KYAT KAN CAVE monastery, a famous meditation retreat in bagan.

In the afternoon, a visit to farming villages around Bagan will give you insight into the rural life of the local people. In the late afternoon, a colorfully decorated oxcart shall be waiting to take you through some of the more off the beaten track tmple sights. This is the traditional way of transportation used by people in Myanmar’s countryside.

Day 6   BAGAN

After breakfast the whole day will be at leasure.

Day 7  BAGAN – YANGON

After breakfast pick –up at your hotel and transfer to the airport for flight to Yangon.

Upon arrival transfer to your hotel directly for leisure. In the afternoon viist to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. Then drive back to your hotel.

Day  8   YANGON

After breakfast your journey begins with a tour through Yangon’s city. Visit SULE PAGODA, dating back over 2,000 years and the magnificent reclining Buddha at CHAUK HTAT GYI. After a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL, a barge on Kandaawgyi ( Royal) lake, stroll through the BOGYOKE 9SCOTTS) MARKET  (closed on Mondays and on public holidays) with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores.

03NOV13   YANGON

04NOV13   YANGON – HEHO – INLE LAKE

Breakfast at hotel.Transfer to the airport for domestic flight W9-141 06:15-8:30 to HEHO by flight. Upon arrival drive (90 km – 2 1/2 hour) to NYAUNG SHWE and proceed by boat to your hotel Lunch at local restaurant Excursionby boat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing village life and magnificent scenery. Visit of THEI LEI OO. Thei Lei Oo village is a beautiful rural forming village that lies on the eastern shore of Inle Lake. It is at the heart at one of one of the most important farming areas on the lake. The inhabitants of the village are Inn Tha and Pao ethnic minority groups. They are well known for their farming skills and use organic farming methods. The major crops farmed oar rice, sugar cane, potato, tomato, garlic and a variety of beans, as well as cucumber and flowers. During the winter season (November to February) the harvested sugar cane is sent to small on site molasses plants where the juice is extracted made into molasses, then sent to the city for use in the production of Mandalay Rum. You will follow an agro trail that runs from the lake through the village and the surrounding organic farmland in a wide looping curve back to the lake .It afford an excellent window onto village life untouched as it is by modern development Return to hotel by boat.

5N0V13      INLE LAKE – INNTHEIN

After breakfast an excursion by boat to the Western Shore of Inle Lake will take you to the beginning of a stair path leading to the hidden and unknown INN THEIN PAGODA complex from Inn Thein your adventure continues by Canoe along a small and narrow creek with a stop on the way at a rice farm Depending on the water level you will have the chance to walk through the rice fields and unique plantations to observe the typical way of life of the Intha people that have lived on Inle Lake since the 7th century.

After lunch at a local restaurant on the lake itself, visits are made to Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon; some of the typical workshops including blacksmiths, boat makers and a cheroot factory and to one of the local markets in the Inle Lake region.

Walking time about 2 hours in total, mostly over small paths and tracks, farming fields and small bridges, mostly flat with a maximum elevation of 50 m.

6NOV13                          INLE LAKE – KAKKU – KALAW

After early breakfast, meet your Pa- O trekking guide and transfer by boat to you starting point on the Eastern shore of the lake. Hike approximately 3 ½ h uphill to HTI NE village. Visit the local monasteries and small Pa-O villages specialized in the production of traditional Shan music instruments, such a drums and gongs as well as crop fields and flower garden. Picnic lunch on the way.

 Meet your driver for a bumpy off-road journey ( about 1 hour drive depending on road and weather conditions) to KAKKU . Visit the kakku pagoda complex of over 2000 stupas. Depart kakku for visit to HTAN-PHA-YA village and cave. Unknown Shan Buddha images of various sizes are kept on the wall of the small and shallow HTAN-PHA-YA cave. Late afternoon board your transport and drive ( 110km- 3 ½ hour) to kalaw, a fresh and delightful hill station, on the rim of the Shan Plateau, which is a market center for ethnic minorities from surrounding regions.

Walking time about 5 1/2 hours in total, mostly up hill, altitude difference about 600 m.Group can take Tractor depends on road condition and in order to make a short time of trekking.

07NOV13                          KALAW          

Breakfast at hotel Your trekking guide will pick you up at your hotel for a walk to Palaung hill tribe villages. Walk up- and downhill through tea-and cheroot leaf plantation. The animist Palaung Tribe was amongst the earliest inhabitants in Myanmar and has kept to their tradition living with several families in long-houses cultivation cash crops and tanapet for Burmese cheroot cigars until you reach the village of Tayaw. Continue your walk to Indian restaurant where a simple lunch will be served.Return to hotel.

In the afternoon walk through the colonial town, see the typical houses built at the time when Burma was a British colony and visit the railway station. Dinner at Seven Sisters Restaurant.

8NOV13            KALAW – PINDAYA

After breakfast, visit Kalaw market and drive (48 km- 1 ½ hours) to PINDAYA Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, walk up to the PINDAYA CAVES, a unique site housing of Buddha images placed there by pilgrims over the centuries. Visit also the umbrella workshop and as well as the paper maker family. A walk around the small lake rounds of this leisurely day.

Dinner and overnight stay at Conqueror Hotel in Pindaya.

9NOV13             PINDAYA

After breakfast start your trekking day with various stops at Da-nu and Pa-O villages to see their traditional way of life. Both the Da-nu and Pa-O are mountain farmers andsell their crop at the famous 5-day markets in the Inle Lake area. You will have the chance to visit their village and plantations. The surroundings are hilly and you will walk up and down, in and out of several valleys. Picnic lunch on the way. Walk back to your hotel.

10NON13        PINDAYA – HEHO – MANDALAY – AVA – AMARAPURA

After breakfast drive (60 km- 2 hours) to Heho airport for domestic flight K7 226, 09:30-10:05 to MANDALAY by flight. Upun arrival, proceed to the former Royal Capital of INWA (AVA) reached by a short boat trip Cooked outdoor lunch in Ava. Visits by horse-down carriage to NANMYINT WATCH TOWER the remains of the palace building nicknamed “the leaning tower of Ava” MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts.

On the way to Mandalay stop in AMARAPURA at the 200-year –old  U BEIN teakbridge, built in 1782 at the time.When Manrapura wasRoyal capital and observe the sunset. Upon arrival in Mandalay, transfer to your hotel

11NOV13        MINGUN – SAGAING – BAGAN

After breakfast transfer to the jetty and board a private boot on the mighty AYEYARWADDY RIVER and travel up river (about 1hour) to MINGUN. Visits will start with the MINGUN BELL, a magnificent sight of the world’s largest un-cracked bell weighing 90 tons, and will continue with HSINBYUME PAYA as well as the unfinished MINGUN PAYA, built as one of the world’s largest chedis by King Bodaw Paya. Continue on your boat down river (about 2 hours) enjoying your catered lunch. You will then reach SAGAING HILLS, a retreat for Buddhist devotees Your coach will wait for you in Sagaing and transfer you directly to the airport for late afternoon flight W9-129 17:40-18:10 to BAGAN by flight. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to your hotel.

12NOV13            BAGAN

After breakfast, walking tour from Anada Pagoda to Dhamma-ya-za-ka Zedi. Walking time about 2 ½ hours. drive to the village of Nyaung Oo and visit the colorful local market. Venture on foot into Bagan’s desert plain and visit some of the most important temples of Bagan SHWEZIGON PAGODA , built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine. KU BHYANIUK GYI, a temple with superb murals of Jataka scenes; and the famous ANANDA TEMPLE, with four standing Buddha images. Lunch at a local restaurant.

13NOV13          PAGAN – MOUNT POPA

After breakfast, pick up at your hotel by horse cart and venture out to some of the more off-the-beaten track temples and pagodas. We don’t follow the trotted trails but takeyou over dusty roads and small paths through one thousand years of history.

After lunch at a local restaurant , drive (45 km – 1 ½  hours) to MOUNT  POPA, an extinct volcano with spectacular views and the birth place of the Myanmar nats’ or spirits. Its shrine is dedicated to animist spirits known as nats and you will have time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak. Transfer to Popa Mountain.

14NOV13        MOUNT POPA – BAGAN – YANGON

After breakfast walk through lush tropical forests up and downhill passing by the largest extinct volcanic crater of the country. The vegetation is lush and there is a variety of plants and birds that cannot be seen in other part of Myanmar.

Lunch at Popa Mountain Resort. Transfer to the airport for return flight to Yangon by flight YJ 202 16:15-17:35. Upon arrival. Transfer to hotel. In the late evening transfer to the best restaurant in Myanmar the colonical style Restaurant for farewell dinner. Return to your hotel.

15NOV13       YANGON – DEPARTURE

Breakfast at hotel. Pick up at your hotel and drive to the BOGYOKE ( SCOTTS ) MARKET with hundreds of food clothes handicrafts and gems stores. Start your walking tour down 31st STREET well known for second hand book shops as well as typical historical shop houses.Cross ANAWRA THA ROAD and continues to SHWE BONTHA STREET to discover the gold shops. Cross through the greens of MAHA BANDOOLA GARDEN from where you have the perfect view on SULE PAGODA CITY HALL AND HIGH COURT.Walk down to PANSODAN STREET famous for some of yangon’s mosst impressive colonial buildings. Board your coach and drive to PANSODAN JETTY to observe the busy life on yangon River. Complete your first day in Myanmar with an extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA.

Walking time about 2 ½ hours in total, flat, mostly on pavement, partly broken.
